Atlas Performing Arts Center

An anchor of revitalized H Street NE, this building has stood sentinel since 1938, when it debuted as a movie palace. The 1968 riots laid the neighborhood low, but in 2005 a $22 million renovation transformed the space into a performing arts mecca. Now entertainment buffs relish a full slate of concerts and plays, like daring works from Mosaic Theater Company, and find their groove in dance classes with Joy of Motion.
