Woman's World

7 Days of Inspiration

When Woman’s World reader, Kimberly Schoenknecht, of Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, prayed for angelic help on behalf of her son, they answered! She writes:

-

Icouldn’t stop crying when my 21-month-old son, Erick, was admitted to the hospital with bacterial meningitis. He had been so healthy, never having the usual earaches, coughs and childhood ailments that other babies suffered through. Now, suddenly, he was in the pediatric ICU at death’s door.

As days passed, Erick remained unconscious and was experiencing multiple seizures. Oxygen tubes covered his little face, and he couldn’t breathe on his own. One doctor told me that the nerves in Erick’s arm were damaged and he would always shake. Another said he would be mentally challenged.

After 10 days, he was so ill that the doctors were talking to me about removing his life support.

My husband had just started a new job and couldn’t spend a lot of time at the hospital. The ICU was very quiet, and it was well past midnight as I sat at Erick’s bedside alone, asking for Heavenly intervention.

“After the angels prayed over him, Erick made a miraculous recovery!” Kimberly marvels

“Please, God, my baby needs a miracle,” I sobbed. “Won’t you please send an angel to help him through this horrible situation?”

Suddenly, two women, wearing old-fashioned prairie-style dresses and lace hats entered. They seemed to sparkle in the shadows of the dark room, and their eyes were filled with compassion.

“What does your baby need?” one asked.

“My baby needs a miracle. The doctors don’t think he’ll make it,” I cried.

The woman moved closer to Erick’s bed.

“I was thinking about Erick earlier today,” she said, placing a hand on his forehead. “He will be well soon.”

My heart skipped a beat. How did she know my child’s name? The other woman joined her friend at the head of the bed, and also placed her hand on him, and they prayed softly. I could not hear their words, but a warm light filled my heart and I somehow knew these women were angels and that my son would be all right.

After they finished praying, they left the room, and I never saw them again. But their glow remained in my heart and gave me hope.

The next morning, to the doctors’ amazement, Erick’s health suddenly improved. They were able to remove the breathing tubes, and Erick was able to breathe on his own.

There were still hurdles to overcome, but Erick was on the path to recovery. Today, he is 22 years old, and I am so thankful those angels appeared that night. Because of their prayers, my son is not only alive, but going to college, has a job and is leading a blessed life.

“The quick response from the angels to Kimberly’s prayer does not surprise me. A mother’s prayer for her child goes to the front of the line,” explains Doreen Virtue, PH.D.

“When we need urgent help, as Kimberly and her son did, God allows angels to take on temporary human form. You’ll know that you’ve met an angel by several characteristics: They appear and disappear from out of nowhere; they know details without being told (such as the angel knowing Erick’s name); they are typically dressed unusually and/or have an unusual appearance; and they perform miracles.

“When we are stressed or frightened, as Kimberly understandably was, we can’t always hear the subtle voice of divine reassurance. That’s when angels take on human form, to deliver prayers and comforting messages that we will clearly hear.

“I also believe that God allowed Kimberly to see the angels so she’d always know that angels would be watching over her and her son.

“The angels say: ‘Our love for you is unlimited, and so are our ways of being able to help you.’ ”
