Grilled Back­yard Beer Burg­ers

Beer, Worces­ter­shire and gar­lic give these hearty burg­ers even more beefy taste! 1 1/2 lbs. lean (at least 80%) ground beef

1 small onion, finely chopped

1/4 cup reg­u­lar or non­al­co­holic beer

1 Tbs. Worces­ter­shire sauce

1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pep­per

2 cloves gar­lic, finely minced

6 rye or whole-wheat ham­burger buns, split

Ketchup, if de­sired

Pickle planks, if de­sired

l Heat gas or charcoal grill. In medium bowl, mix all in­gre­di­ents ex­cept buns, ketchup and pick­les. Shape mix­ture into 6 pat­ties, about 3/4" thick.

l Place pat­ties on grill rack over medium heat. Cover grill; cook 10-15 min­utes, turn­ing once, un­til meat ther­mome­ter in­serted into cen­ters of pat­ties reads 160° F. Add buns, cut sides down, for last 2-3 min­utes of grilling or un­til toasted. Top burg­ers with ketchup and pickle planks; serve on buns.
