Ex­perts don’t yet know why, but women who take the oral con­tra­cep­tive pill for at least seven years are al­most 20% less likely to de­velop rheuma­toid arthri­tis in later life, a new study of more than 2,000 women sug­gests. Even women who use the pill for a shorter time have a 13% lower risk of the dis­ease.
