Next time you’re feeling blue or overwhelmed by an issue you’re having, try talking to yourself as if you’re a friend—for example, “Susan, this is hard, but you’ll get through it!” Though it may sound strange, a new study in Scientific Reports journal reveals that referring to yourself by your name or as “you” instantly eases stress and anxiety. Scientists say it helps you think about your problem rationally rather than focusing on how it affects you personally, and that makes it easier to find a solution!
