Give tra­di­tional br­uschetta a de­li­cious up­grade—it’s easy when you start with gar­lic toasts and add a layer of creamy hum­mus!

12 (1/2"thick) slices crusty French bread Olive oil cook­ing spray 1 clove gar­lic, peeled 3/4 cup hum­mus 12 fresh basil leaves 24 slices red and/or yel­low plum to­ma­toes Salt and freshly ground pep­per, op­tional 2 Tbs. thinly sliced fresh basil leaves

Pre­heat oven to 350°F. Coat each side of bread slices with olive oil spray. Place slices on bak­ing sheet. Bake, turn­ing once, un­til toasted, 3- 4 min­utes per side. Rub one side of each toast with gar­lic; let cool.

Spread each toast with 1 Tbs. hum­mus. Top each toast with 1 basil leaf, then 2 tomato slices. If de­sired, sprin­kle with salt and pep­per. Gar­nish with sliced basil.
