St. Joseph’s Senior Citizens meeting, July 25
Before the meeting, everyone enjoyed their baked scrod dinner. President Suzanne Grenier opened the meeting with a prayer for the sick, and Helen Arsenault and Yvette Leclerc for the deceased.
Door prize winners were Rita Boisvert, Fran Roy, Fran Furnell, Jacqueline Auclair and Joe Pincince.
Raffle ticket winners were Irene Frigon, Leo Grenier, Jeanne Wall, Marilyn Beaudette and Annette Philipovich.
New members welcomed to our group included Rita Piedmont, Rita Caulhus, Ed Phillips and Normand Buteau.
The next dinner, on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at noon in the Good Shepherd School Auditorium on Mendon Road, features lasagna. Tickets are $10 per person.
Trips to Foxwoods are scheduled for Friday, Aug. 25, and Friday, Sept. 29. For details, call Fran Roy at 401356-1493.

There will be no meeting on Aug. 30 and Sept. 6 because of the parish annual flea market.
The club donated $50 towards a fund for five-year member Giarina Jordin Hill, who is a cancer victim.
A fund raiser will be held at the St. Joseph Veterans Club on Sept. 3, from 6 p.m. until midnight.
Food will be served and a DJ will be available for dancing ; there will also be raffles. Donation is $20. Winners of the special bingo games were: Marguerite Deragon, Yvette Bennetti, Simone Remillard, Doris Pariseau and Jocelyn Joyal. Caller was Constance Seider.

President Annette Beaulieu announced that Doris Pariseau will now be in charge of the trips. The first trip under her charge will be to Venus De Milo to see the Million Dollar Quartet live in concert on Sept. 21st. It is a tribute to Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash.
