BLACKSTONE VALLEY MEMORIES
Coach Gig Pariseau’s Pawtucket East eleven combined an effective ground game with a potent passing attack to clip Rogers 32-13 in a Class A tilt. “Spike” Levesque, a 155-pound dynamo with a trusty right arm, kept the Vikings panicky all afternoon with his accurate flinging with Ray Mailhot excelling in the catching department with two third quarter aerial touchdowns. The Redjackets’ other TDs were scored on a Billy Addison 31-yard scamper in the first period, Levesque tallied in the second period and Bob LeFaivre finished off the touchdown parade with a 24-yard romp in the final stanza.
Miss Claudette LaBonte of Segregansett and Ed Briggs combined for the low gross score with an 84 in a member-guest mixed Scotch foursome tournament at the Pawtucket Country Club. Mrs. Rita Fitzgerald and Don Pasquale carded low net with 85-17-68. The offensive exploits of senior QB Ken Knapp (five of 13 for 103 yards) and sophomore running back Dan Ryfa (155 yards in 27 attempts), along with the alert play of the defensive unit, carried Central Falls to a 20-18 triumph over Scituate in a Class C encounter. The Warriors’ touchdowns were tallied by Ryfa on a two-yard run, Knapp on a 12-yard dash and a 30-yard aerial from Knapp to Ron Marques. Defensively, Ron Menard intercepted two passes and Jim Paquette picked off one, Joe Jankowski blocked a punt and tackle Gerry Guilbert made 10 unassisted tackles.
