SOME SHOOTERS ARE ETERNAL
First-person shooters are as popular as they’ve ever been, and the game that is arguably the most famous FPS of all time, Doom, is back for a sequel next year.
The influential shooter had already returned with a cracking reboot in 2016, and according to a brief reveal at e3, we can expect a direct follow-on to that, called Doom Eternal. A tasty teaser trailer places the game not on Mars this time, but in a fiery hell that looks like it is in fact a post-apocalyptic earth, which has evidently been completely overrun with classic Doom demons. Which, really, was bound to happen when you try and tap Hell for its energy sources and open a portal to demons, right?
Currently, that’s really all we know about Doom Eternal, except that, according to Bethesda, your Doom slayer will be more powerful than ever, and we are promised twice as many demons as the last game. More details are set to be revealed at Quakecon this August.
