At its Founders’ Din­ner, held dur­ing the 2014 Fort Laud­erdale In­ter­na­tional Boat Show, the In­ter­na­tional SeaKeep­ers So­ci­ety (ISKS) hon­ored some of its Yachts of Dis­cov­ery for con­tri­bu­tions to oceano­graphic re­search, con­ser­va­tion and ed­u­ca­tion. At the din­ner, hosted by ISKS chairs Tom and Ka­tia Bates at their water­front home, ISKS Chair­man Michael Moore and Pres­i­dent Richard Snow rec­og­nized the yachts Shred­der and and their own­ers for con­tri­bu­tions to the group’s 2014 mis­sions. Dur­ing the year, ISKS fa­cil­i­tated three sci­en­tific ex­pe­di­tions and four out­reach pro­grams, and ar­ranged for five Sea­Keeper Drifters to be de­ployed to gather ocean data. Ex­pe­di­tion yacht Co­pasetic hosted a genome-se­quenc­ing ex­cur­sion, cre­at­ing a cus­tom mo­bile at-sea lab­o­ra­tory. Penny Mae hosted a week­long tiger shark tag­ging ex­pe­di­tion with as­sis­tance from LoJo. Fleet Mi­ami’s Shred­der hosted a three-day ex­pe­di­tion mon­i­tor­ing the be­hav­iors of var­i­ous de­signs of ocean drifters. Yachts In­ter­na­tional is me­dia part­ner to ISKS.
