Four companies that have been longtime supporters of the Newport and St. Barths Bucket regattas have acquired ownership of the events. It was announced during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in November that Perini Navi, Royal Huisman, Vitters and Rybovich have collectively bought the regattas from their original organizers. The group pledged to retain the regattas’ core focus on fun and camaraderie rather than on winning.

“As the new custodians of the St. Barths and Newport Bucket regattas,” a statement from the new owners reads, “we cannot emphasize enough that our sole objective in taking this initiative is to ensure that the special character of the Bucket is preserved for owners, their guests and crew now and well into the future. The Buckets will continue to be an opportunity for great racing in great venues, where socializing and networking, rather than sales and marketing, will set the tone for the industry professionals who participate.”

“The Bucket regattas are in a good place based on feedback from yacht owners and we are fully committed to the goals and objectives of the new ownership group,” said Event Director and Race Chairman Peter Craig. Craig will continue in his roles under the new ownership. Dates for the 2015 St. Barths Bucket are March 19-22.
