construction is underway at New England Boatworks on Contraband, a 94-foot (28.7-meter) aluminum motoryacht for Newport Shipyard owner charlie Dana. Contraband is the yard’s largest build to date and is expected to be a world-cruiser, just like the Dana family’s sailing yacht, the 70-foot, Ted Hood-designed aluminum ketch Saint Roque— one of the first yachts New England Boatworks built, some 22 years ago. Since then, New England Boatworks has partnered in the purchase of Newport Shipyard, sold its portion of the business and become a regular subcontractor. neboatworks.com
