First, I cul­ti­vate grat­i­tude. Wher­ever I might be, what­ever is go­ing on, there is al­ways some­thing to be grate­ful for. Sec­ond, I lis­ten to mu­sic that opens my heart and ex­pands my per­spec­tive. I have found this to be true: Per­spec­tive does not shape your life, it is your life. Here are three things that reg­u­larly boost my happiness, in a day’s chrono­log­i­cal or­der: a caf­feinated drink and quiet time with my hus­band at sun­rise; frol­ick­ing in na­ture with my beloved pups Alice and Zuc­chini; and watch­ing Roger Fed­erer play ten­nis. I go out­side! Our en­tire makeup as hu­man be­ings is adapted for na­ture im­mer­sion. Bring­ing mind­ful aware­ness and con­scious breath­ing to the heal­ing ben­e­fits of na­ture is a pow­er­ful com­bi­na­tion. Not only is it good for low­er­ing stress and el­e­vat­ing mood, it also sup­ports a sus­tained aware­ness of our in­ter­con­nect­ed­ness with the planet and cos­mos.
