Yuma agents ar­rest 9, seize $208K in pot

Yuma Sec­tor Bor­der Patrol agents ar­rested nine il­le­gal en­trants Tues­day night who were al­legedly try­ing to smug­gle more than 400 pounds of mar­i­juana into the coun­try.

Ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease is­sued by the Yuma Sec­tor Pub­lic Af­fairs Of­fice, agents work­ing in the desert west of Gila Bend found foot­prints lead­ing north from the bor­der and be­gan to follow them.

When agents caught up, it turned out to be a group of sus­pected drug smug­glers who were al­legedly car­ry­ing makeshift back­packs filled with mar­i­juana.

Agents seized the drugs, which were val­ued at more than $208,000, and ar­rested the in­di­vid­u­als on sus­pi­cion of nar­cotics smug­gling.
