I enjoy visiting the Castle Dome Mining Museum, but there’s one big obstacle that makes it difficult for me to go there. Actually, there are millions of tiny obstacles.
Part of Castle Dome Mine Road is loose gravel, making for a rough ride. You folks with big trucks (and big tires) may not need worry about it, but those of us in smaller cars have to endure hundreds of tiny rocks going “ping!” against our wheel rims. This increases the odds of tire trouble. I have seen at least one vehicle with a flat tire along that route.
And with so few people living in that region, there’s little incentive to get the road paved anytime soon. We’ve got enough road issues already.
It makes me long for the future, when small drone aircraft will be able to carry us over rough terrain. Well, that’s what I’m hoping for anyway.
