2 hurt in rear-end crash on Ave. B, County 21st St.

Two peo­ple were in­jured and two ve­hi­cles were badly dam­aged in a rear-end col­li­sion Wed­nes­day.

Ac­cord­ing to a press re­lease, the Somer­ton/Co­co­pah Fire De­part­ment was called to a mo­tor ve­hi­cle col­li­sion with in­juries at 4:25 p.m. at South Av­enue B and County 21st Street. The crew was as­sisted by San Luis Fire De­part­ment Paramedics.

A white GMC Trail­blazer was trav­el­ing north­bound when it was re­port­edly hit by a red Chevro­let Sub­ur­ban. The re­lease stated that the driver of the red Sub­ur­ban sus­tained a bloody nose when his face struck a deployed airbag. The driver of the Trail­blazer was com­plain­ing of a stiff neck and pain to his right arm.

Somer­ton/Co­co­pah paramedics placed the driver of the Trail­blazer in full cer­vi­cal spine pre­cau­tions. He was trans­ported to YRMC.

The driver of the red Sub­ur­ban was ex­am­ined and treated by the San Luis Fire De­part­ment Paramedics but re­fused trans­porta­tion.

The Yuma County Sher­iff’s Of­fice is in­ves­ti­gat­ing the in­ci­dent.
