2 hurt in rear-end crash on Ave. B, County 21st St.

Two people were injured and two vehicles were badly damaged in a rear-end collision Wednesday.

According to a press release, the Somerton/Cocopah Fire Department was called to a motor vehicle collision with injuries at 4:25 p.m. at South Avenue B and County 21st Street. The crew was assisted by San Luis Fire Department Paramedics.

A white GMC Trailblaze­r was traveling northbound when it was reportedly hit by a red Chevrolet Suburban. The release stated that the driver of the red Suburban sustained a bloody nose when his face struck a deployed airbag. The driver of the Trailblaze­r was complainin­g of a stiff neck and pain to his right arm.

Somerton/Cocopah paramedics placed the driver of the Trailblaze­r in full cervical spine precaution­s. He was transporte­d to YRMC.

The driver of the red Suburban was examined and treated by the San Luis Fire Department Paramedics but refused transporta­tion.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is investigat­ing the incident.
