Once the Mats fell out of the league title race Minnick said that he wanted to start mixing different players in on the field. Injuries have limited the scope

of the late-season experiment, but he said some of the competitio­n is helping.

“Mostly some of the lineman. A couple of the lineman have gotten shots,” he said. “We just want to keep them rotating. The key with some of the kids is that if there’s no competitio­n they turn off and don’t get better. You have to tell them that they need to get better, no matter where they are going.”
