Phylogenetics of Academician Abdurahmanov
The well-known scientist of Uzbekistan, academician of the World Academy of Sciences Ibrohim Abdurahmanov has published his new book «Phylogenetics», in which he shared the results of the latest researches conducted using the most modern scientific technologies.
Phylogenetics is aimed at studying the evolutionary affinity of living organisms of our planet. Its application extends to such key areas, as the evolution, classification and taxonomy of living organisms; ecology, diversity and biology of conservation of agrobiocoenosis; monitoring the spread of pathogens, outbreaks and sources of transmissions, forensic analysis. Historically, phylogenetic studies were predominantly based on the morphological features of species which helped to classify the «Tree of life» on Earth. However, modern research in this direction is largely based on the definition of DNA sequences.
In this book, readers are presented the latest developments in phylogenetics, in which there were distinguished systems with several kingdoms, reticulated evolution and the biology of conservation of living organisms, as well as the achievements of phylogenetics based on «omix» technologies.
This new book published by Professor Abdurahmanov summarizes the updated knowledge on a very important subject of genetics, studying the connection of living organisms on Earth.
He dedicated this book to the First President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and his scientific supervisor at the Texas Mechanical and Agricultural University, honorary professor Kamal El-Zek who played a significant role in his scientific career. Islam Karimov in the first days of independence in 1991 issued a decree on the organization of the Institute of Genetics in the Academy of Sciences which served as a scientific platform for the talented young generation of the republic.
Ibrohim Abdurahmanov began working at the Institute of Genetics from student years. A vital step in the scientific activity of the future professor was the organization of the presidential fund “UMID”, thanks to which he had the opportunity to study at the leading agricultural school of the Texas Mechanical and Agricultural University in the direction of genetic engineering. This helped the young scientist to realize his potential which later developed in the creation of the Center for Genomics and Bioinformatics in Uzbekistan. Professor Kamal El-Zek supported Ibrohim Abdurahmanov in all studies and firmly believed in his abilities.
“This book is a reflection of my gratitude to the great people who contribute to the upbringing of the youth, including in science», the scientist said in an interview with our news agency.
