Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Uzbekistan, Pamela Spratlen, has conveyed her congratulations to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his successful trip to New York, and said that the United States welcomes Uzbekistan’s development strategy.
The head of the diplomatic mission made this statement during the latest regular session of the International Press Club in Tashkent, organized to discuss the results of the recent visit by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to New York.
Over the past years, the US has supported the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Central Asian countries, Pamela Spratlen reminded the audience. Washington will continue to be committed to this policy, she said. The diplomat informed that it was a privilege to arrange a regular meeting of the heads of foreign ministries of the United States and Central Asian states in the C5 + 1 format on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Ambassador Spratlen said the United States welcomes the development strategy of Uzbekistan with regard to transformations in the system of ensuring government accountability, increasing economic transparency, humanizing the judicial and legal system, and developing civil society. Washington is pleased with the work carried out in the country to ensure the rule of law, improve the currency exchange realm, protect intellectual property, enhance opportunities for doing business, the diplomat pointed out. She expressed hope for sustained progress towards broad economic, political and social reforms, as much as in the human rights area.
