Am­bas­sador Ex­traor­di­nary and Plenipo­ten­tiary of the United States to Uzbek­istan, Pamela Spratlen, has con­veyed her con­grat­u­la­tions to Pres­i­dent Shavkat Mirziy­oyev on his suc­cess­ful trip to New York, and said that the United States wel­comes Uzbek­istan’s devel­op­ment strat­egy.

The head of the diplo­matic mis­sion made this state­ment dur­ing the lat­est reg­u­lar ses­sion of the In­ter­na­tional Press Club in Tashkent, or­ga­nized to dis­cuss the re­sults of the re­cent visit by the Pres­i­dent of Uzbek­istan Shavkat Mirziy­oyev to New York.

Over the past years, the US has sup­ported the in­de­pen­dence, sovereignty and ter­ri­to­rial in­tegrity of the Cen­tral Asian coun­tries, Pamela Spratlen re­minded the au­di­ence. Wash­ing­ton will con­tinue to be com­mit­ted to this pol­icy, she said. The diplo­mat in­formed that it was a priv­i­lege to ar­range a reg­u­lar meet­ing of the heads of for­eign min­istries of the United States and Cen­tral Asian states in the C5 + 1 for­mat on the side­lines of the UN Gen­eral Assem­bly in New York.

Am­bas­sador Spratlen said the United States wel­comes the devel­op­ment strat­egy of Uzbek­istan with re­gard to trans­for­ma­tions in the sys­tem of en­sur­ing gov­ern­ment ac­count­abil­ity, in­creas­ing eco­nomic trans­parency, hu­man­iz­ing the ju­di­cial and le­gal sys­tem, and de­vel­op­ing civil so­ci­ety. Wash­ing­ton is pleased with the work car­ried out in the coun­try to en­sure the rule of law, im­prove the cur­rency ex­change realm, pro­tect in­tel­lec­tual prop­erty, en­hance op­por­tu­ni­ties for do­ing busi­ness, the diplo­mat pointed out. She ex­pressed hope for sus­tained progress to­wards broad eco­nomic, po­lit­i­cal and so­cial re­forms, as much as in the hu­man rights area.
