The new chiller facility at the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Aid works exclusively on natural refrigerant - ammonia which does not harm the ozone layer and affects climate change to a minimum.
Uzbekistan became the first country in Central Asia where such high-tech equipment was installed. The realization of the project is extremely important, as it provides a solution to several issues on the list of Sustainable Development Goals - access to quality health services, the well-being of the population, and combating climate change.
Prior to the opening ceremony of the unit, the guests of the event were the Director-General of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care (RSCEMC), Abduhakim Khadjibayev. In his welcoming speech, he noted that this project was implemented by the RSCEMC, the State Committee for Ecology and Environmental Protection of Uzbekistan, the UNDP with the support of the Ministry of Healthcare of Uzbekistan.
The equipment for more than $ 400 thousand was delivered in the course of the project with the total cost of more than $ 600 thousand. There were carried out the construction and installation works for the amount of over $ 200 thousand by the RSCEMC and the Ministry of Healthcare.
«It is symbolic that this facility is being installed for the first time in one of the largest medical institutions in our country where 24-hour highly qualified emergency medical care is provided to more than 150 thousand patients annually, 17 thousand of them are children. Annually in the walls of the center there are performed more than 30 thousand operations. Undoubtedly, the creation of comfortable conditions for patients staying in a hospital in the conditions of our hot climate is an obligatory and integral part of successful treatment and early recovery of patients», Abduhakim Khadjibayev said.
Two chillers whose work will soon be evaluated by the RSCEMC patients, will function alternately and cool the five hulls of the center that need it.
