Uzbek­istan’s Pres­i­dent Meets with UN Del­e­ga­tion

Yes­ter­day, the Pres­i­dent of the Repub­lic of Uzbek­istan Shavkat Mirziy­oyev re­ceived the UN As­sis­tant Sec­re­taryGen­eral for Po­lit­i­cal Af­fairs Miroslav Jenca and the Spe­cial Rep­re­sen­ta­tive of the Sec­re­tary-Gen­eral, the Head of the UN Regional Cen­tre for Pre­ven­tive Diplo­macy for Cen­tral Asia (UNRCCA) Natalia Gher­man.

The head of our state con­grat­u­lated N.Gher­man on her ap­point­ment to the post of the head of the UNRCCA and wished her suc­cess, noted with sat­is­fac­tion the pro­duc­tive na­ture of co­op­er­a­tion of Uzbek­istan with the United Na­tions in gen­eral with the Regional Cen­tre in par­tic­u­lar, which un­til re­cently was headed by M.Jenca. The Pres­i­dent of our coun­try noted the im­por­tant role of the UN in or­ga­ni­za­tion of the in­ter­na­tional con­fer­ence “Cen­tral Asia: one past and a com­mon fu­ture, co­op­er­a­tion for sus­tain­able de­vel­op­ment and mu­tual pros­per­ity” that opens on Novem­ber 10, in Sa­markand.

It was em­pha­sized that Uzbek­istan, as a full mem­ber of the world com­mu­nity, is tak­ing an ac­tive part in in­ter­na­tional pro­cesses, for­ward­ing and im­ple­ment­ing con­crete pro­pos­als, in­clud­ing on con­struc­tive so­lu­tion of ac­cu­mu­lated prob­lems, en­sur­ing se­cu­rity and sta­bil­ity, sus­tain­able and long-term de­vel­op­ment of Cen­tral Asia.

Guests on be­half of the UN and its Sec­re­tary-Gen­eral An­tónio Guter­res ex­pressed sup­port for the goals and ob­jec­tives of the in­ter­na­tional fo­rum on en­sur­ing se­cu­rity and sus­tain­able de­vel­op­ment in the re­gion.

As it was noted, the key ini­tia­tives for­warded by the Pres­i­dent of Uzbek­istan Shavkat Mirziy­oyev at the 72nd ses­sion of the UN Gen­eral Assem­bly on de­vel­op­ment of the in­ter­na­tional con­ven­tion on the rights of youth, the adop­tion of the res­o­lu­tion “En­light­en­ment and re­li­gious tol­er­ance”, con­duc­tion of reg­u­lar con­sul­ta­tions of the heads of the Cen­tral Asian states should make a sig­nif­i­cant con­tri­bu­tion to the res­o­lu­tion of ex­ist­ing global and regional prob­lems.

At the meet­ing, other is­sues re­lated to ex­pan­sion and strength­en­ing of co­op­er­a­tion be­tween Uzbek­istan and the United Na­tions were also dis­cussed.
