In Mem­ory of Rashidov

The Uzbek­istan Cup in box­ing among juniors in 2002-2003 has taken place.

It was held in ac­cor­dance with the pro­gram de­vel­oped by the Repub­li­can Or­ga­niz­ing Com­mit­tee for the cel­e­bra­tion of the 100th an­niver­sary of the birth of Sharaf Rashidov. In Jiz­zakh, there were tour­na­ments on the most pop­u­lar sports.

In the com­pe­ti­tion, or­ga­nized by the State Com­mit­tee of the Repub­lic of Uzbek­istan for Phys­i­cal Cul­ture and Sports, in con­junc­tion with the Na­tional Olympic Com­mit­tee, the Box­ing Fed­er­a­tion and the Jiz­zakh regional hokimiyat, 364 young ath­letes from all re­gions of the repub­lic took part. In the Jiz­zakh Col­lege of the Olympic Re­serve, the best in 15 weight cat­e­gories were re­vealed dur­ing the week. Win­ners and prizewin­ners were awarded spe­cial medals with the im­age of Sharaf Rashidov, diplo­mas and valu­able prizes.

In ad­di­tion to the fight­ing in the ring, the par­tic­i­pants got ac­quainted with the life and work of the out­stand­ing states­man and writer Sharaf Rashidov, the sights of the places where he was born. A great im­pres­sion on the youth was made by the me­mo­rial com­plex and the mu­seum of Sharaf Rashidov, the al­ley of Hamid Alim­jan and Zul­fiya, the board­ing school for in-depth study of the Uzbek lan­guage and lit­er­a­ture, cre­ative work car­ried out where the great sons and daugh­ters of our peo­ple were born and grew up.
