In Tashkent, the conference “The Role of NGOs in Achieving the Strategic Objectives of Our Country” was held.

Deputies of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, heads of projects of the United Nations Development Program, representatives of non-governmental non-profit organizations operating in all regions of the republic, mass information attended this event, organized by the Women's Committee of Uzbekistan in conjunction with the United Nations Development Program and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (Germany) in Uzbekistan.

The conference noted that Action Strategy for the five priority areas of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021 years provides for the active participation of non-governmental non-profit organizations in the implementation of the country's development priorities. At the same time, further expansion of NGO activities, social partnership between them have positive impact on increase of women's activity in public and political life.

Women's interests are also provided in a hundred normative legal acts aimed at protecting human rights, adopted in our country. The brightest demonstration to this is the ratification by Uzbekistan of the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.

As of August 1, 2017, the number of non-governmental non-profit organizations in the sphere of women's rights and interests protection has exceeded 300 in the republic. Today the Women's Committee of Uzbekistan is the largest non-governmental organization, more than 200 departments and divisions, over 44 thousand primary organizations of which function on the basis of the principles of social partnership.

Within the framework of the forum, on November 6-8 of this year Women's Committee with the support of international organizations organized a training seminar on effective organization of the centers for social and legal support of women and their families, NGO workers in the course of getting acquainted with the activities of the Center for Socio-Legal Support for Women and their families “Kalb Nuri” of the Djizak region. The work carried out by the team of this center to protect the interests of women, their rights, protect motherhood and childhood is an example for all of us.

Memorandums of cooperation were signed between the Women's Committee of Uzbekistan and the branch of the Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development (France), between the regional centers.
