Elec­tion Cam­paign­ing in Full Swing

On De­cem­ber 24 this year, elec­tions are sched­uled for district Ken­gashes (Coun­cils) of Peo­ple’s Deputies of the city of Tashkent.

This elec­tion cam­paign­ing be­gan on Septem­ber 23 this year. This po­lit­i­cal process is grad­u­ally im­ple­mented on the ba­sis of the Pro­gram of Mea­sures for Con­duct­ing Elec­tions to the District Ken­gashes of Peo­ple’s Deputies of the Cap­i­tal, ap­proved by a res­o­lu­tion of the Cen­tral Elec­tion Com­mis­sion of the Repub­lic of Uzbek­istan.

Ac­cord­ing to the chair­man of the Tashkent city elec­tion com­mis­sion for hold­ing elec­tions to the district Ken­gashes of Peo­ple’s Deputies Hamid Ka­ri­mov, the elec­tion cam­paign is in full swing. Ac­cord­ing to the pro­gram, the rel­e­vant district elec­tion com­mis­sions es­tab­lished in Tashkent held their meet­ings on reg­is­tra­tion of can­di­dates for deputies un­til Novem­ber 19. The an­nounce­ment of reg­is­tra­tion in the com­ing days will be an­nounced in the lo­cal press.

Pre-elec­tion cam­paign­ing of can­di­dates for deputies be­gins with the day of their reg­is­tra­tion. Ac­cord­ing to the de­cree of the Cen­tral Elec­tion Com­mis­sion on pre-elec­tion cam­paign­ing of can­di­dates for deputies to the district Ken­gashes of Peo­ple’s Deputies of the city of Tashkent on Novem­ber 16, 2017, the sched­ule for pro­vid­ing free air­time dur­ing the elec­tion cam­paign to the district Ken­gashes of Peo­ple’s Deputies of Tashkent for can­di­dates for elec­tion cam­paign­ing on Toshkent chan­nel The Na­tional Tele­vi­sion and Ra­dio Com­pany of Uzbek­istan, a free print space for rep­re­sen­ta­tives of po­lit­i­cal par­ties and cit­i­zens’ self-govern­ment in the news­pa­pers Toshkent Oqshomi Vech­erny Tashkent.

All par­tic­i­pat­ing po­lit­i­cal par­ties and cit­i­zens’ ad­min­is­tra­tions nom­i­nated one can­di­date in 330 elec­toral dis­tricts, or­ga­nized in 11 dis­tricts of Tashkent.

Based on the re­quire­ments of the elec­toral law, women make up more than 30% of the to­tal num­ber of nom­i­nated can­di­dates for deputies from po­lit­i­cal par­ties.
