Peace and Development in Asia
In Istanbul, the 2nd meeting of the Executive Council and the 10th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) has taken place. At these events, Uzbekistan was represented by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Nigmatulla Yuldashev.
In accordance with the program, the APA sessions were held within the framework of the standing committees on political, cultural and social issues, economy and sustainable development. The main meeting, at which urgent development problems on our continent and ways of their solution were discussed, was held under the motto Peace and Development in Asia.
The agenda included issues related to the coordination of the efforts of national parliaments in resolving the burning issues of our time, including by increasing their role in ensuring peace, as reflected in the Istanbul Declaration adopted at the end of the event.
The document provides for strengthening cooperation in priority areas, including the development of the energy market, environmental protection, improving education, ensuring water sanitation and others.
According to the decision of the General Assembly of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly and according to the regulations, the chairmanship in APA in 2017-2019 passed from Cambodia to Turkey.
At the general session, the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of our country N. Yuldashev met with the Chairman of the Great National Assembly of Turkey I. Kahraman. The head of the Uzbek delegation congratulated the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament on his re-election on November 20 this year, as well as the reception of the relay race of the chairmanship in APA.
