Tashkent’s Effective Policy
President of the EBRD Suma Chakrabarti praised the pace of political and economic reforms in Uzbekistan.
The head of the bank highlighted the constructive proactive policy of Tashkent towards the countries of Central Asia.
The delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan visited the headquarters of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London. At the meeting, S. Chakrabarti stressed that the EBRD is ready to provide all possible support to Uzbekistan in achieving its goals, not only by providing funds for implementing priority projects and attracting foreign investment, but also facilitating the process of effective implementation of economic reforms.
According to the head of the bank, the range of interaction between the parties is very wide: support of small and mediumsized businesses, development of publicprivate partnership, tourism, energy saving and renewable energy sources, transport and communal infrastructure, promotion of the capital market and the banking and financial sector.
The EBRD President noted with satisfaction that for almost a record time the parties managed to prepare and sign several agreements for a total of over $ 186 million. According to him, in 2018 the bank plans to implement at least 15 projects in various areas.
The Uzbek delegation took part in the meeting of the Board of Directors of the bank. S. Chakrabarti pointed out that Uzbekistan, with which effective cooperation and cooperation was renewed, is an important direction for the bank’s activity.
In the speech of the Uzbek delegation, detailed information was provided on the transformations taking place in the country. It was stressed that this process is stable and irreversible.
