The pos­si­bil­ity of Uzbek­istan’s uni­ver­si­ties join­ing the in­ter­na­tional rat­ing sys­tems of uni­ver­si­ties is dis­cussed.

Within the frame­work of the Science 2020 De­vel­op­ment Pro­gram, the Min­istry of Higher and Sec­ondary Spe­cial Ed­u­ca­tion or­ga­nized the first meet­ing with the Re­gional Higher Ed­u­ca­tion Agency of the Times Higher Ed­u­ca­tion, Ye­gor Yablokov, Re­gional Di­rec­tor for Cen­tral Asia of El­se­vier Com­pany Aliya Os­panova and the Min­is­ter of Higher and Sec­ondary Spe­cial Ed­u­ca­tion Inomjon Ma­ji­dov.

Dur­ing the meet­ing, the sides dis­cussed the pos­si­bil­ity of Uzbek uni­ver­si­ties’ in­clu­sion in the in­ter­na­tional univer­sity rat­ing sys­tem, and an in­tro­duc­tory sem­i­nar for rec­tors was held. The im­por­tance of the de­vel­op­ment of science was noted as one of the main cri­te­ria, along with the de­vel­op­ment of the pub­li­ca­tion ac­tiv­ity of sci­en­tists in the au­thor­i­ta­tive data­base of Sco­pus, the com­pany El­se­vier.

The World Univer­sity Rank­ings, a global study and the ac­com­pa­ny­ing rat­ing of the best higher ed­u­ca­tion in­sti­tu­tions of world sig­nif­i­cance is cal­cu­lated by the method­ol­ogy of the Bri­tish edi­tion of Times Higher Ed­u­ca­tion (THE) with the par­tic­i­pa­tion of the in­ter­na­tional sci­en­tific and an­a­lyt­i­cal plat­form Sco­pus, the com­pany El­se­vier and is con­sid­ered one of the most in­flu­en­tial global univer­sity rat­ings. On March 23, 2018, the Min­istry of Higher and Sec­ondary Spe­cial Ed­u­ca­tion and lead­ing sci­en­tific com­pany El­se­vier signed the na­tional strate­gic agree­ment Science 2020, used by all lead­ing world rat­ing agen­cies.
