The possibility of Uzbekistan’s universities joining the international rating systems of universities is discussed.
Within the framework of the Science 2020 Development Program, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education organized the first meeting with the Regional Higher Education Agency of the Times Higher Education, Yegor Yablokov, Regional Director for Central Asia of Elsevier Company Aliya Ospanova and the Minister of Higher and Secondary Special Education Inomjon Majidov.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the possibility of Uzbek universities’ inclusion in the international university rating system, and an introductory seminar for rectors was held. The importance of the development of science was noted as one of the main criteria, along with the development of the publication activity of scientists in the authoritative database of Scopus, the company Elsevier.
The World University Rankings, a global study and the accompanying rating of the best higher education institutions of world significance is calculated by the methodology of the British edition of Times Higher Education (THE) with the participation of the international scientific and analytical platform Scopus, the company Elsevier and is considered one of the most influential global university ratings. On March 23, 2018, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education and leading scientific company Elsevier signed the national strategic agreement Science 2020, used by all leading world rating agencies.
