A Visit of Friend­ship and Hope

Press Sec­re­tary of the Pres­i­dent of the Repub­lic of Uzbek­istan, Komil Al­lamjonov, has told jour­nal­ists about the de­tails of the forth­com­ing state visit by Ta­jik­istan’s Pres­i­dent Emo­mali Rah­mon, first in the last 17 years, to our coun­try.

The high-rank­ing guest will ar­rive in the morn­ing of 17 Au­gust. Fol­low­ing a cer­e­mony of lay­ing flow­ers to the Mon­u­ment of In­de­pen­dence and Hu­man­ism at the Mus­taqil­lik Square in the heart of Tashkent, the heads of state will start talks in the Kuk­saroy coun­try res­i­dence. The ne­go­ti­a­tions are an­tic­i­pated in con­tracted and ex­tended for­mats, the spokesman in­formed.

The two sides, ac­cord­ing to Al­lamjonov, are ex­pected to dis­cuss co­op­er­a­tion is­sues in the po­lit­i­cal, trade-eco­nomic, trans­port and com­mu­ni­ca­tion ar­eas; tourism, cul­tural-hu­man­i­tar­ian in­ter­ac­tion will also be in fo­cus along with that be­tween ter­ri­to­rial en­ti­ties of our two na­tions. The del­e­ga­tions in­tend to swap views on re­gional and in­ter­na­tional af­fairs of shared in­ter­est.

The talks are pro­jected to pro­duce a num­ber of doc­u­ments to be signed, rais­ing the co­op­er­a­tion be­tween the two coun­tries to a new level.

In the af­ter­noon, Uz­ex­pocen­ter is to host an ex­hi­bi­tion of Ta­jik­man­u­fac­tured goods. Emo­mali Rah­mon plans also to visit the Ar­tel fac­tory in Tashkent. The very same day, the Pres­i­dents of Uzbek­istan and Ta­jik­istan will at­tend a con­cert show of art masters from the two coun­tries.

On Au­gust 18, Ta­jik­istan’s leader is to hold talks with Speaker of the Leg­isla­tive Cham­ber of Uzbek­istan’s Oliy Ma­jlis Nur­dinjon Is­mailov and Prime Min­is­ter Ab­dulla Aripov. Later the same day, Emo­mali Rah­mon is an­tic­i­pated in Sa­markand.

The visit pro­gram may un­dergo changes, the press sec­re­tary of the Pres­i­dent of Uzbek­istan noted.
