Uzbek­istan’s Pres­i­dent to At­tend CIS Sum­mit Meet­ing

Pres­i­dent of the Repub­lic of Uzbek­istan Shavkat Mirziy­oyev has ar­rived in Dushanbe, Ta­jik­istan, to at­tend the reg­u­lar ses­sion of the Com­mon­wealth of In­de­pen­dent States (CIS) Coun­cil of the Heads of State.

The sum­mit agenda in­cludes a wide range of is­sues con­cern­ing the cur­rent state and prospects of mul­ti­lat­eral co­op­er­a­tion across di­verse spheres.

In ad­di­tion, the lead­ers of CIS na­tions are ex­pected to dis­cuss the pres­i­dency in the or­ga­ni­za­tion in 2019, the premises and date of the next sum­mit meet­ing, and swap views on press­ing re­gional and in­ter­na­tional is­sues.

Fol­low­ing the de­lib­er­a­tions the par­tic­i­pants are an­tic­i­pated to ap­prove a con­sid­er­able pack­age of doc­u­ments, in­clud­ing the state­ment of the CIS heads of state on the oc­ca­sion of the 70th an­niver­sary of the Uni­ver­sal Dec­la­ra­tion of Hu­man Rights (10 De­cem­ber 1948), an ac­tion plan of the prepa­ra­tions for the cel­e­bra­tion of the 75th an­niver­sary of vic­tory in the Great Pa­tri­otic War in 1941-1945, an in­ter­gov­ern­men­tal pro­gram of joint mea­sures in com­bat­ing crime for 2019-2023, a co­op­er­a­tion agree­ment for fight­ing crime in the field of in­for­ma­tion tech­nolo­gies.

While in Dushanbe, the Pres­i­dent of Uzbek­istan also in­tends to hold a num­ber of bi­lat­eral meet­ings.
