Uzbekistan’s President to Attend CIS Summit Meeting
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has arrived in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, to attend the regular session of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Council of the Heads of State.
The summit agenda includes a wide range of issues concerning the current state and prospects of multilateral cooperation across diverse spheres.
In addition, the leaders of CIS nations are expected to discuss the presidency in the organization in 2019, the premises and date of the next summit meeting, and swap views on pressing regional and international issues.
Following the deliberations the participants are anticipated to approve a considerable package of documents, including the statement of the CIS heads of state on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (10 December 1948), an action plan of the preparations for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War in 1941-1945, an intergovernmental program of joint measures in combating crime for 2019-2023, a cooperation agreement for fighting crime in the field of information technologies.
While in Dushanbe, the President of Uzbekistan also intends to hold a number of bilateral meetings.
