Cluster Methods Going Popular

Special emphasis is placed in Uzbekistan to the delivery of infrastructure built on cutting-edge technologies and introduction of cluster techniques into the agricultural sector. One of such innovation schemes is currently under implementation in Rishtan district.

For the first time this year, Rus O`zbek Teks has been employing a cluster process in cotton cultivation. Considerable effects are expected as a result. More than 1,000 hectares of cotton fields in the district are located on the lands of central Ferghana, and the crop yield has dropped here in recent years. Earlier this year, experienced specialists studied the extent of soil bonity, its structure and composition. Samples from the upper stratum of the soil as well as from the ten- and twentymeter depths were taken for through examination.

As a result of research and conclusions of the specialists, seeds of the cotton of Namangan 77 and S 8290 species were sown, and all the agro-technical works were carried out with quality and in time. Currently, the company employs more than 20 agricultural, chemical and other specialists. For the past period of this year, in excess of twenty units of machinery and scores of spare parts were procured.

“We see the advantages of the cluster method in practice,” Yursinali Sodikov, head of the farmer enterprise Kodir Sodik, said in an interview. “This year, we’ve concluded agreement with Rus O`zbek Teks, sown the seeds of the S 8290 species of cotton on 18 hectares of land and intend to harvest 40 metric centners of yield. As a result of the timely conduct of agro-technical works, we see cotton boxes already open all over the field. Now we are harvesting the crop.”

In 2018-2020, the enterprise envisages to realize a promising project. In particular, the introduction of cluster techniques opens up numerous advantages and opportunities for it.

“Earlier, we used to confine ourselves to the production of threads and yarn,” said the company director Olimjon Olimov. “But now, the raw material is processed right here, it passes through all the phases and turns into finished export oriented product because cluster is an innovation production method that unites enterprises linked with deep processing of crude, starting from cultivation of land, sowing cotton seeds and through to its growth, collection and reprocessing. In accordance with estimates, 20 billion soums of pure income is projected as the outcome of the year.”

The enterprise also bought over the cotton ginnery of the district, where it installed modern technological equipment worth 200 thousand US dollars. In the future, the company eyes the organization of oil production, knitting mill, an auxiliary enterprise, and the creation of more than two thousand jobs. Production of 5,420 tons of yarn and over 143 billion soums of income are projected for this year.

According to specialists, organization of clusters serves the development of production chain and provision for deep reprocessing of crudes. Such form of activity in conditions of market economy allows for the reduction in the costs of production, improvement of its quality, and the elevation of the competitiveness of the industry.
