A Direct Dialogue
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with heads of major French companies.
It was attended by chiefs of leading companies in the European and world markets, financial structures, such as Total, Total Eren, Orano, Fives Stein, Rangis Semmaris, Vinci, Suez, Sad, Idemia, Mercier, Thales Alenia Space, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, French Development Agency and others.
Uzbekistan offers extensive opportunities, it was stressed at the meeting, for foreign investors. Essential regulations have been adopted to stimulate and protect their activities. Various obstacles to business development have been eliminated; foreign trade and customs tariff control has been significantly reduced.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev: To promote direct dialogue with foreign investors, we’ve decided to create a Foreign Investments Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. It is supposed to elaborate proposals for constant improvement of the investment climate in Uzbekistan taking into account the views of investors.
The head of our state invited French investors to actively participate in the work of the Council.
French businesspeople highly appreciated the economic reforms carried out in Uzbekistan under the leadership of Shavkat Mirziyoyev and stressed that the liberalization of the monetary system and the simplification of the procedure for obtaining a visa created favorable opportunities for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation. This has increased interest in partnership with Uzbekistan. Evidence of this was the signing on the eve of this visit of agreements on investment projects worth about 5 billion euros.
The meeting participants discussed issues of further development of partnership among financial organizations, firms and companies of Uzbekistan and France, expansion of joint deliveries of goods and provision of services.
