Rus­sia to Sup­port in Train­ing Spe­cial­ists for Nu­clear En­ergy Sec­tor

In the frame­work of the state visit by Pres­i­dent of the Rus­sian Fed­er­a­tion Vladimir Putin to the Re­pub­lic of Uzbek­istan, the Rosatom State Atomic En­ergy Cor­po­ra­tion, the Academy of Sci­ences of Uzbek­istan and the Agency for the De­vel­op­ment of Atomic En­ergy

In pen­ning the mem­o­ran­dum the sides were guided by the agree­ments be­tween the gov­ern­ments of the Rus­sian Fed­er­a­tion and the Re­pub­lic of Uzbek­istan on co­op­er­a­tion in the field of peace­ful use of atomic en­ergy (De­cem­ber 29, 2017) and on co­op­er­a­tion in the con­struc­tion of a nu­clear power plant in the ter­ri­tory of Uzbek­istan (Septem­ber 7, 2018).

Within the frame­work of the mem­o­ran­dum, the par­ties plan to co­op­er­ate in the field of ed­u­ca­tion and train­ing of oper­a­tional per­son­nel for the first nu­clear power plant in Uzbek­istan, as well as ed­u­ca­tion and train­ing of per­son­nel in the nu­clear en­ergy in­dus­try in gen­eral and re­lated fields.

It is also planned to or­ga­nize joint ed­u­ca­tional pro­grams, in­clud­ing dou­ble-de­gree pro­grams, in re­la­tion to the needs of the nu­clear power in­dus­try and re­lated fields, in­clud­ing nu­clear sci­ence and tech­nol­ogy.

The par­ties’ in­ten­tions in­clude train­ing teach­ers from Uzbek­istan with the aim of con­duct­ing train­ing cour­ses in Uzbek uni­ver­si­ties, other ed­u­ca­tional or­ga­ni­za­tions, as well as in other en­ter­prises and or­ga­ni­za­tions.

The mem­o­ran­dum pro­vides for other ar­eas of co­op­er­a­tion, in­clud­ing the de­vel­op­ment of ed­u­ca­tional and sci­en­tific lit­er­a­ture in the field of nu­clear en­ergy, the or­ga­ni­za­tion of short­term in­tern­ships, sum­mer schools, sem­i­nars, com­pe­ti­tions in physics, chem­istry, math­e­mat­ics among stu­dents and school­child­ren of Uzbek­istan.

It is pro­jected to hold con­fer­ences and sem­i­nars to dis­cuss is­sues of train­ing spe­cial­ists in the nu­clear in­dus­try, in­clud­ing with the par­tic­i­pa­tion of in­ter­na­tional ex­perts.

The par­ties also en­vi­sion con­tri­bu­tion to the im­ple­men­ta­tion of higher ed­u­ca­tion pro­grams for Uzbek can­di­dates in Rus­sian uni­ver­si­ties.

In ad­di­tion, the Rosatom State Atomic En­ergy Cor­po­ra­tion and the Uzatom Agency signed a mem­o­ran­dum of un­der­stand­ing on the for­ma­tion of pos­i­tive pub­lic opin­ion re­gard­ing nu­clear en­ergy in Uzbek­istan.

Un­der the doc­u­ment, bi­lat­eral co­op­er­a­tion will be aimed at in­form­ing the pop­u­la­tion of Uzbek­istan about mod­ern nu­clear en­ergy tech­nolo­gies and the ben­e­fits from the re­al­iza­tion of such projects, es­pe­cially for the pop­u­la­tion of the re­gions where nu­clear power fa­cil­i­ties will be lo­cated.

It is en­vis­aged to train rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the re­pub­lic’s me­dia to in­crease their un­der­stand­ing of the nu­clear en­ergy in­dus­try and as­pects of nu­clear tech­nol­ogy; or­ga­ni­za­tion and hold­ing of in­ter­na­tional con­fer­ences and ex­hi­bi­tions in the field of nu­clear en­ergy tech­nolo­gies and a num­ber of other ar­eas.

In ad­di­tion, the plans in­clude the cre­ation of an Atomic En­ergy In­for­ma­tion Cen­ter in the Re­pub­lic of Uzbek­istan with the as­sis­tance of the Rosatom State Atomic En­ergy Cor­po­ra­tion, which will be open for the gen­eral pub­lic and to those who wish to be­come fa­mil­iar with nu­clear tech­nolo­gies.
