Once a quaint cap­i­tal that was over­shad­owed by the bright lights of HCM City, Haø Noäi has come into its own as a mod­ern metropolis where both ur­ban and ru­ral res­i­dents can en­joy a bet­ter life.

guyeãn Thò Hoa won't for­get the day her fam­ily re­ceived ac­cess to elec­tric­ity for the first time in her life. Five years ago, in 2008, the young girl from the moun­tain­ous com­mune of Yeân Trung, Thaïch Thaát Dis­trict (Haø Taây Prov­ince) shouted for joy when her thatched cot­tage was il­lu­mi­nated by flu­o­res­cent light for the first time.

In ad­di­tion to elec­tric­ity, sev­eral new roads were also built in her lo­cal­ity, so now she can go to school more eas­ily.

Life the other res­i­dents her com­mune in 2008 when Thaïch Thaát Dis­trict and other re­gions of Haø Taây Prov­ince were merged with Haø Noäi. Now Hoa is proud cit­i­zen of Haø Noäi.

"Our liv­ing con­di­tions have changed. And I hope that my com­mune will con­tinue to de­velop and more and more chil­dren can have bet­ter school­ing," she said.
