Footwear ex­ports fetch more than $1.1b

ÑOÀNG NAI — The south­ern province of Ñoàng Nai has earned more than US$1.1 bil­lion from footwear ex­ports in the first seven months of this year, up 12.8 per cent year-on-year.

Ac­cord­ing to Direc­tor of the provin­cial De­part­ment of In­dus­try and Trade Leâ Vaên Danh, in July alone, the ex­port of this prod­uct brought $167 mil­lion to the province, up 16.4 per cent over the pre­vi­ous month and 5.1 per cent com­pared to a year ear­lier.

He said that growth was seen in al­most all mar­kets, led by the Repub­lic of Korea with $323 mil­lion and the US with $309 mil­lion. They were fol­lowed by Bel­gium with $98 mil­lion, China with $50 mil­lion and the UK with $75 mil­lion, he said.

Lo­cal busi­nesses at­trib­uted the growth to the Gen­er­alised Sys­tem of Pref­er­ences (GSP) that the Euro­pean Union has granted to Vieät Nam, cou­pled with the eco­nomic re­cov­ery in many mar­kets, in­clud­ing the EU and the United States.

In­tel’s con­tri­bu­tions to City devel­op­ment hailed

HCM CITY — Sec­re­tary of the HCM City Party Com­mit­tee, Leâ Thanh Haûi, has said that In­tel Prod­ucts Vieät Nam Co Ltd’s ef­fec­tive in­vest­ment has greatly con­trib­uted to the city’s so­cioe­co­nomic devel­op­ment, es­pe­cially in train­ing high-qual­ity hu­man re­sources.

Meet­ing with In­tel Prod­ucts Vieät Nam Gen­eral Man­ager Sherry Boger on Tues­day at the de­but of the com­pany’s first cen­tral pro­cess­ing unit (CPU) prod­uct in Vieät Nam, Haûi spoke highly of In­tel’s ef­forts to over­come ini­tial dif­fi­cul­ties to re­alise co­op­er­a­tion com­mit­ments be­tween the two sides.

He pro­posed that In­tel raise its in­vest­ment in the Saøi Goøn Hi-tech Park, fo­cus­ing on the field of re­search and devel­op­ment.

For her part, Sherry Boger thanked the mu­nic­i­pal au­thor­i­ties for cre­at­ing favourable con­di­tions for the com­pany to turn out hi-tech prod­ucts in Vieät Nam. — VNS
