Captive bear shifted to rescue centre
ÑAÉK LAÉK A female bear, weighing 150 kilograms, was shifted from the Central Highland Ñaék Laék Province to the Tam Ñaûo Bear Rescue Centre in the northern Vónh Phuùc Province yesterday.
The bear, which had been kept in captivity by a local man since 1999 when she was a cub weighing five kilograms, was voluntarily handed over to the Ñaék Laék Provinces Forest Management Department.
Animals Asia Foundation provided free medical aid to help shift the bear to the rescue centre.
This is the fifth case of a bear receiving medical aid from the foundation since early this year.
