The Vietnamese National Assembly has urged its ministries and localities to intensify links with Laos in the fields of economics, education-training and security-defence, NA Chairman Nguyeãn Sinh Huøng said in Vientiane.

Huøng was speaking to Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong while on attending the 35th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-35). He said he valued the Lao PM's contributions to the development of the two countries' relations, especially relating to politics, economics, investment and trade.

The Lao PM thanked the Vietnamese NA for its active support in helping the Lao lawmaking body host AIPA-35. He said his country would undertake maximum efforts to consolidate special friendship and comprehensive co-operation with Vieät Nam.

Later, at a meeting in Haø Noäi with the Lao Minister of National Defence, Sengnuon Saynhalat, President Tröông Taán Sang said he believed Laos and Vieät Nam would continue to co-operate for the prosperity and development of both countries as well as the region.

The Lao defence leader thanked Vieät Nam for supporting his country during its struggle for independence and the ongoing process of national-building. He pledge to do his utmost to promote the friendship and co-operation between Vieät Nam and Laos.
