Telemedicine con­nects Cam­bo­dian, VN hos­pi­tals

HCM CITY — A telemedicine sys­tem con­nect­ing Preah Ket Mealea Hos­pi­tal (Royal Cam­bo­dian Armed Forces Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal) with Vi­etä Nam’s 175 Mil­i­tary Hos­pi­tal was launched yes­ter­day to as­sist Cam­bo­dian doc­tors in di­ag­no­sis and treat­ment. Ul­tra­sound and CAT scan im­ages of pa­tients with blad­der stones and pleurisy tu­mours treated at the Preah Ket Mealea Hos­pi­tal were broad­cast live to 175 Mil­i­tary Hos­pi­tal doc­tors.

Viet­namese doc­tors can also view op­er­a­tions at the Preah Ket Mealea Hos­pi­tal and as­sist doc­tors in the surgery room.

The Vi­etä Nam Min­istry of De­fence helps fund and pro­vide tech­ni­cal as­sis­tance to the telemedicine sys­tem.

Ma­jor Gen­eral Nguyenã Honàg Sôn, head of the 175 Mil­i­tary Hos­pi­tal, said that doc­tors in Vi­etä Nam can as­sist with di­ag­no­sis and treat­ment of pa­tients with se­ri­ous con­di­tions at Preah Ket Mealea Hos­pi­tal.
