HCM City set to in­crease park­ing fees

HCM CITY — HCM City au­thor­i­ties have de­cided to in­crease park­ing fees at all lots run by pri­vate op­er­a­tors in the in­ner city start­ing next month.

This is aimed at at­tract­ing more in­vest­ment in build­ing park­ing ar­eas and re­duc­ing traf­fic in these ar­eas.

The new fees for bi­cy­cles and elec­tric bikes in dis­tricts 1, 3 and 5 will be VNÑ2,000 (US$0.08) dur­ing the day, VNÑ4,000 ($0.17) at night, and VNÑ100,000 ($4.3) per month. Day is from 6am to 6pm.

These will ap­ply to schools, hos­pi­tals, mar­kets, bus sta­tions, su­per­mar­kets, en­ter­tain­ment places, cul­tural houses for chil­dren and youth, parks, and gov­ern­ment of­fices.

Mo­tor­bikes and elec­tric mo­tor­cy­cles will be charged VNÑ4,000 for four hours dur­ing the day and VNÑ6,000 ($0.26) at night, and VNÑ210,000 ($9) per month.

The fee for cars with fewer than nine seats and trucks weigh­ing un­der 1.5 tonnes will be VNÑ35,000 ($1.5) for the first two hours and VNÑ20,000 ($0.85) per hour from the third hour, and VNÑ5 mil­lion ($215) per month.

In other dis­tricts, the fee is VNÑ35,000 for ev­ery four hours and VNÑ2 mil­lion per month. — VNS
