Bidding for 4th mobile provider open
THE biding process for a fourth mobile operator in Zambia has been opened.
ZICTA believes an additional mobile operator will provide competition and raise standards of service.
ZICTA issued a two-month Request For Proposal (RFP) invitation to global and regional telecom companies intending to operate in Zambia.
Chief executive officer Patrick Mutimushi stated that the RFP was issued on Tuesday pursuant to the licensing guidelines of 2017.
“ZICTA now invites proposals that will lead to issuance of international network and national service license,” Mr Mutimushi said.
Both local and international companies will be required to pay a non-refundable fee of K1 million for each bid.
Zambia’s current operators are Zamtel, Airtel and MTN.
