Lungu, HH not enemies, says UPND Luapula chief
By PRINCE CHIBAWAH THE UPND does not want the Patriotic Front to fail the people of Zambia because President Edgar Lungu and Hakainde Hichilema are not enemies, says UPND Luapula Province Secretary, Jim Mulenga.
In an interview, Mr Mulenga said the UPND had no ill intension against the ruling party or President Lungu.
“Being in politics does not mean we are enemies. The UPND and PF are not enemies. When PF is facing any sort of problems we pray for them,” he said
Mr Mulenga was commenting on the misunderstandings which had rocked PF in Luapula Province.
“It bothers us when we see bad things happening in PF. We are Christians, you don’t jubilate when the house of your neighbour is on fire,” he said.
Mr Mulenga further explained that the internal misunderstandings in PF had the potential to disturb the delivery of development especially in the affected province.
“We appeal to our friends in PF to put their house in order. When elephants are fighting it is the grass that suffers most. We don’t want their problems to affect the delivery of development to the people of Zambia.
“The PF shouldn’t forget that it is the party in government. It has a responsibility to serve the people effectively,” said Mr Mulenga.
The ruling party in Luapula Province has been experiencing unprecedented internal wrangles following the suspension of some party officials.
Those suspended include Bahati Constituency Chairman Mumba Kasongo together with his chairlady Alice Chipulu.
The officials have been accused of working against the party.
But both Mr Kasongo and Mrs Chipulu have rejected their suspension describing it as a witch hunt.
