`Clergy should guide nation’

-

By ANNIE ZULU

THE clergy should take advantage of the Ministry of Religious Affairs to provide guidance and direction to the leadership of the country, Independent Churches of Zambia Director Bishop David Masupa has said.

Bishop Masupa said the Church leadership had an obligation to give direction and guidance to government according to the tenets of the Bible.

He noted that the Church was enjoined by the scriptures to touch lives and influence society, urging the Clergy to take advantage of the Religious Affairs Ministry to advise.

He indicated that the clergy did not have to occupy political office to contribute towards the development of the country, but could offer guidance through their calling as servants of God.

“Church leaders have responsibility to give guidance to the leadership of the country, people in government and managing the resources of the country by using the tenets of the Bible as a guide. They also have a duty to point out any wrong doing in the society for correction.

“The Church must utilise the Ministry to contribute to national development, it gives the clergy to work with government for the benefit of the Zambian people,” Bishop Masupa said.
