ZRA turns against debtors
THE Zambia Revenue Authority has swung into action against debtors including those on the Time to Pay Agreement and have defaulted.
ZRA corporate communications manager Topsy Sikalinda said they would use all efforts prescribed under the law to ensure the state recovered all debts owed.
He said ZRA would soon issue notices of Warrant of Distress on all defaulters around Lusaka.
“Tax compliance has two basic principles, compliance and enforcement, but since the defaulters have failed to comply; the ZRA has been left with no choice but to swing into action with enforcement.
He explained that to avoid inconveniences, individuals, companies, organisations or institutions owing the ZRA in the form of tax liability must pay up or contact the Debt Recovery Unit immediately.
He said that earlier in the year, ZRA embarked on a tax amnesty which was meant to help taxpayers with compliance.
