Zambian journalism gone to the hyenas?

-

Dear Editor,

KINDLY publish my article in your widely read newspaper.

I almost cry nowadays because of the type of reporting especially the public media which is always negative.

That is quite unprofessional because Journalists are trained to report what they see, not please owners of media houses.

The public must be wondering about the calibre of today’s journalists, very sad indeed.

How do you report on the status of the marriage of your own president who is older than you and like your father even using insulting language?

There are no ethics nowadays and Zambia Media Association (ZMA) has put a blind eye on its members who report unprofessionally.

It is insane to insult the head of state and ZMA keeps quiet and cannot be bothered.

Can journalism be the way it was some time back when people enjoyed reading a newspaper or listening to a radio or watching television?

Journalism in Zambia has been turned into political parties where there scribes are engaged in reporting negatively about their own country.

Can ZMA come to its senses to educate its members on professional reporting and ethics or the Association be abolished as it does not serve the purpose it was set up?
