As wina says:

They’re scrambling in the dark

- Vice President Inonge Wina

“The Member for Kabompo is very excited by the impeachment motion and is starting the process already but I can assure him that we are all in this House legally, including the ministers because the ruling has not yet been delivered to us,”

THE United Party for National Development (UPND) is scrambling in the dark to find grounds to impeach President Edgar Lungu but will not succeed, Vice President Inonge Wina has said.

Ms Wina said the UPND were scrambling in the dark to impeach President Lungu but it will not take Zambia anywhere.

The Vice President was responding to a question by Kabompo Member of Parliament Ambrose Lufuma (UPND) who wanted to know her position on the Constitutional Court ruling that ministers occupied office illegally during the time of petition for the Presidential election.

Ms Wina said Mr Lufuma was very excited by the impeachment motion and is starting the process already, but assured him that they were all in the House legally, including the ministers because the ruling has not yet been delivered to them.

Ms Wina said the opposition is deliberately putting a blanket cover of corruption on Government to achieve their agenda.

The Vice President said the opposition was using allegations of corruption to humiliate Government, but it will not work.

“Madam Speaker, they are scrambling in the dark on why they should impeach President Lungu but it will not take Zambia anywhere.

“The Member for Kabompo is very excited by the impeachment motion and is starting the process already but I can assure him that we are all in this House legally, including the ministers because the ruling has not yet been delivered to us,” Ms Wina said.

Ms Wina however said, although there could be some culprits as it has been revealed in the last Auditor General’s Report, but it should not entail the condemnation of all Government and will not be acceptable.

She was responding to a question by Kanchibiya Member of Parliament Martin Malama (PF) who wanted to know Government position on the politicising of the fight against corruption particularly by the UPND.
