HH is a publicity seeker - Chanda
"As NCP, we believe HH's visit to Hon. Kambwili was not genuine. HH is an attention seeker who jumps at every given opportunity for political mileage,"
UPND president Hakainde Hichilema’s decision to visit incarcerated Chishimba Kambwili at Woodlands Police Station on Thursday afternoon was merely to advertise himself, says the New Congress Party (NCP).
NCP leader Peter Chanda said Mr Hichilema is a publicity seeker who jumps at any opportunity to be in the public eye. Pastor Chanda said in an interview in Lusaka that Mr Hichilema’s visit was not genuine but designed to advertise himself politically.
Pastor Chanda charged that Mr Hichilema was desperate to get recognition using any means at his disposal and wanted to use Mr Kambwili's arrest for his political expediency.
Mr Hichilema’s surprise visit was made a few hours after the embattled Roan Member of Parliament was charged with 39 counts and detained at Woodlands Police station on Thursday afternoon.
But Pastor Chanda said Mr Hichilema visited Mr Kambwili not out of sympathy but for political expediency.
"As NCP, we believe HH's visit of Hon. Kambwili was not genuine. HH is an attention seeker who jumps at every given opportunity for political mileage," Pastor Chanda said.
He said for Mr Hichilema, the Roan lawmaker's arrest was an opportunity to advertise himself politically.
