Ed­u­ca­tion vi­tal among cit­i­zens-Civic leader

ED­U­CA­TION is vi­tal among cit­i­zens and gives them an op­por­tu­nity to do well in life, Lusaka’s Man­devu Con­stituency Ng­w­erere Ward

19 Coun­cil­lor Adrian Banda has ob­served.

In an in­ter­view yes­ter­day, Mr Banda said his of­fice val­ued ed­u­ca­tion as a key com­po­nent be­cause it can trans­form the com­mu­nity pos­i­tively.

Mr Banda who last Thurs­day do­nated a pho­to­copy­ing ma­chine to Si­mon Mwansa Kap­wepwe School in his ward worth K6, 500 to ease the print­ing needs of the school, ap­plauded govern­ment for im­prov­ing the ed­u­ca­tion sec­tor and en­sur­ing that cit­i­zens re­ceived ed­u­ca­tion.

“My of­fice val­ues ed­u­ca­tion and we be­lieve that for us to trans­form our com­mu­nity, ed­u­ca­tion pro­vides a plat­form for such trans­for­ma­tion. We com­mend govern­ment for im­prov­ing the ed­u­ca­tion sec­tor,” Mr Banda said.

Mr Banda added that his of­fice would also en­deav­our to col­lab­o­rate with the cor­po­rate world to help many other schools in his ward with var­i­ous needs.

The do­na­tion comes af­ter man­age­ment at the school had writ­ten to his of­fice on chal­lenges faced in im­ple­ment­ing the In­for­ma­tion Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Tech­nol­ogy (ICTs) pol­icy due to lack of equip­ment such as com­put­ers and print­ers among other items.
