Miner dies at Kalum­bila Mine

A MINER at Kalum­bila Min­er­als Lim­ited in North Western Prov­ince has died af­ter sus­tain­ing in­juries while car­ry­ing out main­te­nance work, gen­eral man­ager Mor­ris Rowe has con­firmed.

Mr Rowe an­nounced in a state­ment that Wil­liam Mwanza, a con­trac­tor em­ployee died on Tues­day dur­ing his course of duty at Sen­tinel Process Plant. “It is with great sad­ness that we an­nounce the death of Wil­liam Mwanza, a con­trac­tor em­ployee, who passed away to­day, Tues­day 2nd Oc­to­ber 2018. Wil­liam sus­tained fa­tal in­juries while car­ry­ing out main­te­nance work at the Sen­tinel Process Plant,” Mr Rowe said. An­other em­ployee, who has not been iden­ti­fied, sus­tained mi­nor in­juries and was rushed to the hos­pi­tal where his con­di­tion has been de­scribed as sta­ble. Mr Rowe said the Mine Safety Depart­ment and Zam­bia Po­lice have been no­ti­fied and in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­sti­tuted to es­tab­lish the cause of the ac­ci­dent.
