Govt tips stakeholders on sales tax
ALL stakeholders should engage themselves on the reintroduced Sales Tax before it is implemented in April next year, says Finance Minister Margaret Mwanakatwe. Ms Mwanakatwe said it was important for stakeholders to engage on the Sales Tax and iron out any concerns. The minister said this in Lusaka yesterday, at the Zambia Institute for Policy Analysis and Research (ZIPAR) in remarks made for her by Permanent Secretary for economic management and Finance, Mukuli Chikuba. “As a ministry we would like to urge stakeholders for engagement on the Sales Tax, we have six months before it is reintroduced,” she said. And ZRA Commissioner General Kingsley Chanda said it pays K800 million on a monthly basis as refund to the mines. Mr. Chanda said contrary to assertions by some section of society Zambia was not the only country with Sales tax but there were 46 other countries including the United States of Africa.
