Vehicle plant plans elate Lusaka minister
LUSAKA Province Minister, Bowman Lusambo, is elated with a Chinese team that intends to set up a vehicle manufacturing plant in Chongwe. Mr Lusambo said in Lusaka yesterday, the relationship between Zambia and China should be strengthened so that the two countries can benefit from each other especially investment in technology and capacity building. He was speaking when a delegation from China which intends to set up a vehicle manufacturing plant in Chongwe paid a courtesy call on him. Mr Lusambo said Lusaka Province was vast in need of investment in various districts, including Chongwe. Mr Lusambo said Chinese investors should ensure that the investment that they were bringing benefited Zambians especially youths. Mr Lusambo explained that the province which had seven districts had potential in agriculture, mining, aquaculture and tourism therefore investors were at liberty. He urged the Chinese investors intending to invest in Zambia especially Lusaka Province to consider Zambians as first priority to be employed so that they benefit from the investment. He appealed to the Chinese people to mingle and work in harmony with traditional leaders that where in Chongwe so that they exchange cultural values. And Mayor of Fuzhou city, Jiangxi Province Zhang Hangxing said China is ready to partner with Zambia so that development can be accelerated and to sign several friendly assignments with Zambia. Mr Zhang said his delegation is in Zambia to explore investment opportunities where companies from his province can invest. Mr Hangxing said the aim of his visit was to see how the two provinces can establish some friendly corporation agreements in terms of investments. “We are in Zambia to discover the possible market for vehicles that are being manufactured from Jiangxi Province in China and our area of interest is about the cultural communication where the two region would come up with the cultural exchange programmes,” he said.
