Woman in court for electoral malpractice
A 38-YEAR-OLD business woman of Lusaka has appeared in the Lusaka Magistrates’ court for allegedly voting twice in the 2018 Lusaka mayoral elections. In this case Monica Mutale of unknown house number in John Laing is charged with impersonation contrary to section 82 (a) and 124 (a) of the Electoral Process Act No. 35 of 2016 of the laws of Zambia. It is alleged that Mutale on July 26, 2018 in Lusaka having voted once in the mayoral election at John Laing Primary School applied for a ballot paper to vote in the same election again. Mutale pleaded not guilty to the charge before Lusaka Magistrate Austin Mubita. The matter has been adjourned to November 20, 2018 for trial.
